What is your role, and how long have you been working with Arketipo?
Six years. I deal with everything made of fiberglass, from RVs to armchairs.
What does Arketipo mean to you?
A family. I’ve known Lorenzo since I was five years old, but it’s only recently that I’ve started working with him and the Arketipo team. My work embodies Arketipo—that is, a new mindset. I was approached to do something that no one else was capable of doing, and six years later, I’m still here.
What is the obsession that inspires your work?
Weather and climate. They’re both friends and foes. Fiberglass is a highly sensitive material that isn’t used very often in the furniture industry (if ever!), and there must be a reason for that. Weather conditions play a key role, and I’m particularly concerned about humidity, because it can cause more than one type of damage to the final product.
How can you tell if a product is excellent?
It depends on what you’re looking for. The product I mentioned earlier—the one that no one else was able to make—had to have a surface finish that, to a fiberglass technician, is “a mistake.” In Lorenzo’s eyes, however, it’s a sophisticated aesthetic solution.
How does one achieve perfection?
Through practice. And sometimes by looking at things from a different perspective, as in the previous example. Having the courage and the openness to change your perspective is a gift—one that often leads to mistakes, but if you get it right… it’s the closest thing to perfection you can imagine.
